With the New Year 2010, the fourth year of stone planting and growing experiment has started in Pedvāle Open-Air Art Museum.
This winter set in very rapidly and turned out to be unexpectedly cold and snowy. In such weather conditions it is important to follow the processes both over the stone plantation and beneath it.
On the 1st of January the sculptor Ojārs Feldbergs, gardener of the stone field, bored several holes until he succeeded to reach one of the stone seeds planted earlier. Now it is placed in a special location and is constantly being monitored.
Analysing data from the hole, one can conclude that the soil has not frozen deeply and the planted stones are found in different layers of the frost, depending on the depth chosen by the planter.
