Starting the New Year 2010, creative work started in Pedvāle already on the 1st of January. Having wiped off snow fallen on New Year’s Eve, sculptor Ojārs Feldbergs continued carving the sculpture “Birch Grove”, started the previous year.

A birch grove is an important notion in Latvian history – cultic places have been arranged there, alluding to a set of spiritual and ethical principles.

This sculpture is a constituent part of the sculptural ensemble “Latvian Landscape”. The ensemble will be placed on the Temple Hill of Pedvāle Open-Air Art Museum. The group will consist of sculptural compositions representing elements of Latvian landscape.
