The April residency programme has concluded

With the exhibition by Annika Börtin (Sweden) at the Pedvāle International Artist Residency exhibition hall, the April 2026 residency programme has come to a close.

Speaking about her time in the residency, the artist says:
“During my stay at Pedvāle, I have been working in a landscape where nature, history, and sculpture slowly move together through the days. In the studio, I have followed the traces of light, rain, and terrain, allowing them to take shape in watercolour, embroidery, and mixed media. The work has developed through an intense daily flow — papers spread out, threads searching for direction, colours responding to the surroundings.

Excursions to Talsi, Kandava, and Pūre have deepened my sense of the place and offered new impulses to the process. I have written about the landscape outside the window, the beautiful rooms in which I work, the birds singing, and the rain falling over the sculptures.

I am deeply grateful for my time here — for the stillness, for the opportunity to immerse myself in the process, for everything that has slowly taken form. Several works are still in progress, and I hope to continue and complete them at home, with the presence of Pedvāle still lingering in the lines and colours.”

The exhibition is on view on April 28.
