In 2025 Pedvale Art Park and the French Institute in Latvia launched a new residency programme for artists of three-dimensional art with the aim of adding works by French artists to the collection of Pedvale Art Park for outdoor exhibition.
French sculptor Gaspard Combes was chosen for the 2025 residency, who created the sculptural group “_Eternal rest_”. Two figures, halfway between a human and a rock, play with the idea of their potential movement. They could start moving and walking, but they prefer to stay there to rest and contemplate the landscape around them. It seems as if they can rest forever and invite us to a more contemplative and peaceful life. Their mineral nature also evokes geological times and movements that extend far beyond our human existence. Let us rest and sit down for a few minutes to meditate about it.
As of 13 July 2025 “_Eternal rest_” is on display for visitors of Pedvale Art Park.
