From 2 to 13 July 2026, French artist Lucia Cayuela was in residence at the Pedvāle International Artist Residency. During her stay, she created the installation “Dream Hut/Mother River”, constructed from timber and plastic sheeting. The wooden structure references Viking boats and traditional dwellings, while the translucent plastic creates the impression of a cascading waterfall. The installation is a tribute to the Mother of the River. It is a place for bringing together stories, legends, family memories, and historical testimonies, aiming to connect generations and bridge the known and the unknown past. Much like a river, our identity is shaped by countless tributaries, detours, encounters, and transformations.
The residency of the French artist at Pedvāle was funded by the French Institute in Latvia.
